What is Permanent Cosmetics and Micropigmentation?
Permanent Cosmetics often referred to as Permanent makeup, is a cosmetic technique
which utilizes permanent pigmentation of the skin that allows the resemblance of makeup,
such as eye-lining, lip-lining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin.
In addition to facial enhancements, Permanent Cosmetics is also used to produce
artificial eyebrows. Simply put, Permanent Cosmetics is used to emulate the
appearance of makeup as well as used to camouflage scars and skin discolorations,
to mimic the appearance of hair.
Although Permanent Make Up can be utilized to enhance beauty, it can be beneficial to those people who have lost eyebrows due to aging, disease, such as alopecia, chemotherapy or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and white spots in the skin such as in vitiligo. In addition to facial procedures, Permanent Cosmetics can also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such as after breast surgery.
Permanent Cosmetics can also be referred to as Micropigmentation or Dermapigmentation. The Permanent Cosmetics Industry continually works to regulate and accredit procedures insuring that there are industry standard practices for patient care.
